Clean Truck Check (HD I/M)

Effective January 1, 2023, the state of California has implemented a new law called the Clean Truck Check (HD I/M) aimed at reducing emissions from heavy-duty vehicles. This law requires periodic emissions testing for heavy-duty trucks, buses and motor homes operating within the state.
What You Need to Know
- Who is affected: All heavy-duty diesel trucks, buses and motor homes with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) over 14,000 pounds.
- Testing frequency: Trucks and buses must undergo emissions testing bi-annually. Motor homes annually.
- Compliance deadline: All affected vehicles must register at the CTC-VIS portal and be in compliance by the CTC-VIS due date.
